Separation can bring uncertainty, difficult decisions and emotional strain for everyone involved. The SMASH Initiative (Separation Mediation Access Support Hub) has been created to provide separating couples and families with access to professional mediation support in a confidential, neutral and constructive environment.
The initiative is designed to support separating couples through reduced-fee pre-mediation meetings and a complimentary 60-minute joint mediation session.
A limited number of complimentary 60-minute joint mediation sessions will be available to couples who wish to explore practical options, improve communication and identify positive next steps.

How It Works
Stage 1: Individual Pre-Mediation Meetings
Reduced Fee Applies
Before attending a joint mediation session, each participant meets individually with the mediator. These confidential meetings help determine whether mediation is appropriate, explain the process, identify key concerns and prepare participants to engage in constructive discussions. Pre-mediation meetings are conducted by telephone or online for convenience and accessibility.
SMASH Initiative Rate: €70 per person (reduced fee applies).
Stage 2: Complimentary 60-Minute Joint Mediation Session
Standard Fee: €350
Once both pre-mediation meetings have been completed, eligible participants can attend a complimentary 60-minute joint mediation session as part of the SMASH Initiative.
During this session, couples will have the opportunity to:
Discuss immediate priorities
Explore practical arrangements
Improve communication
Identify constructive next steps
Consider future mediation options where appropriate
Why Pre-Mediation Meetings Form Part of the Process
Pre-mediation meetings form an important part of the mediation process. They provide an opportunity for each participant to discuss their circumstances in confidence, learn more about mediation and ensure the process is suitable for their individual situation.
As part of the SMASH Initiative, these meetings are offered at a reduced rate, with a complimentary joint mediation session available once both pre-mediation meetings have been completed.
